250+ wordsDiscussions are scholarly dialogs, so while sharing what you think and not just what published authors wrote is encouraged, only stating opinion isn’t acceptable. Instead, thoughtfully integrate relevant theory and research you read about this week and strive to make connections between that academic content and your own observations and experiences. Formal citations are not required in the discussions.

PSYC300

For this week’s discussion, select one of the options below to discuss.

Imagine you are conducting a literature review in preparation for a study of expectations regarding the sharing of financial and practical responsibilities among married and cohabiting couples between the ages of 20 and 29. Conducting a keyword search on “couples” and “responsibility” generates a lengthy list of articles. To shorted the list, you eliminate all articles that were not published in prestigious research journals and to only include the remaining articles in your literature review. What is gained and lost by using that approach? Is this elimination process appropriate for a scholarly literature review? What other steps may be needed to filter down the articles to the most relevant?

While reading a literature review written by a novice researcher in your field, you notice that the researcher seems to have relied heavily on the Internet in preparing the review. Your hunch is supported when you glance at the reference page and find a long list of web addresses. What goes through your mind regarding the quality and adequacy of the literature review in this situation? How can the use of the Internet yield “scholarly” research to be included in a literature review?

___________

For this week’s discussion, you are to review the linked article:

Windsong, E. A. (2018). Incorporating intersectionality into research design: An example using qualitative interviews. International Journal of Social Research Methodology, 21(2), 135-147. https://doi.org/10.1080/13645579.2016.1268361

After reviewing the article, first provide a solid explanation of intersectionality. Then, what does the author suggest regarding intersectionality and data collection? Why is consideration of intersectionality important? How can qualitative research be used to effectively integrate this construct into research? And, then, please share any other points from the article that resonated most with you.

_____________

For this week’s discussion, complete these tasks:

Explain three circumstances where a researcher would choose a longitudinal study over a cross-sectional study.

Identify two advantages and two disadvantages of a longitudinal study and a cross-sectional study, giving examples of each.

Then, provide a specific example of a question that could be addressed with a longitudinal study and explain why that developmental design is preferred.

_____________

For this week’s discussion, you are to find an experimental research article in the University library. After reviewing the article, you need to provide an annotation to the class. In the annotation, be sure to include the hypothesis/hypotheses, methodology (i.e., including participant pool, measurements, data collection process, data analysis process), results, and discussion.

You will also need to attach the article to your posted discussion.
