What are some of the reasons that work teams have become more prevalent in today’s organizations and how do they provide a competitive advantage? What are some ways teams can be “technology-enabled?” What are the challenges of virtual teams? How can leaders make virtual teams more effective? What role does Self-Leadership play within a virtual team and why is it important for this model of leadership?

Assignment Instructions

This week you have explored the rise of organizational teams, including virtual ones, that make an understanding of team leadership theory crucial for 21st century organizational success. A global pandemic appears to have accelerated the use of virtual teams and potentially created a strong case for their continued use in a post-pandemic world. Your assignment for this week is to consider some key questions regarding team leadership and write an analysis of your findings. Your analysis should include a combination of insights from your textbook, the additional Instructional Resources, and at least 4 additional peer-reviewed articles. 

Write about a contemporary example of team leadership (including remote leadership). How has a global pandemic shifted the way we lead people and how does a dispersed team promote self-leadership? What method of communication is best for distributed team members? How much of a company’s work can be accomplished through virtual teams? Post-pandemic, what does the future hold regarding remote work? As part of your analysis, please include an introduction and conclusion, and be sure your overall analysis should include how a leader approaches control, communication, trust, autonomy, and empowerment within the team.  

DeliverableTo earn full credit, you will provide a Word document with a minimum of 5 full pages. In addition to the assigned reading, you should conduct your own research using the university library. Sources should be peer-reviewed (academic literature) and must not be older than five (5) years. You should find at least four (4) peer-reviewed articles in addition to any assigned readings. Support your work with APA formatted cites and references. The references will appear on their own page(s) and the page count does not include the cover page or reference section.
