Image 1:

This image is representing dehumanization by representing a group of people as
animals, this then being taken as them being less than human. This is a way of
prejudice to a group and even showing the lack of support that they might have for
them. This again not only shows dehumanization but overall the lack of respect that one
group has for another. Its using the strong and offensive language to spread a very
dehumanizing message.

Image 2:

This second image is representing people based on stereotypes that are very negative
and uncomfortable. Stereotypes have a very negative and harmful impact on people
because its an assumption about how a group of people might be or even their beliefs
based of certain characteristics and even race. This image is not only showing a lot of
discrimination but again stereotypes as well. This image can influence the treatment
that people receive which can lead to exclusion, lack of opportunities and overall it
perpetuates a narrative that people are defined inaccuartly and not truly based of their
identities.

Image 3:

This image is again depicting a group of people as less than human and even having
the incorporation of the bugs has a very deeply dehumanization effect. The
incorporation of bugs, or any other dehumanizing imagery, further amplifies this effect
by symbolizing filth, or even infestation. Again examples like these can be a tool for
justifying mistreatment, and even violence because when people are depicted this way
it can be a tool for mistreatment.

Image 4:

This image is showing people locked in cages, which is another horrible example of
dehumanization, The use of cages is a stark visual metaphor that conveys the idea of
these individuals being trapped, restricted, and stripped of their basic human rights and
freedoms. This image is showing how the people in the cages is representing them as
being controlled or confined which can lead to the psychological effects like the feelings
of worthlessness, helplessness, and deep frustration.

Image 5:

This image is showing writing in a prisoners face with sharpie while they are blindfolded
which is showing another dehumanizing example. The act of doing this is reinforcing the
power imbalance and its a form of psychological and emotional abuse.

Image 6:

This image of a man holding up a sign that says “Deport Illegal Aliens” is very
dehumanizing because this is a label that is often used to devalue a person, the term
alien itself implies that a person is not human, or not from this world. It creates the us vs
them divide that encourages the idea that one group is inferior to another.

Image 1: [Description of Image]

This image represents dehumanization through its portrayal of a group of people as less
than human, using exaggerated physical features or animal-like traits to depict them.
The visual distortion creates a clear “us vs. them” mentality, suggesting that the
individuals in the image are not entitled to the same moral or ethical considerations as
others. This is a common tactic in prejudice and dehumanization, as it reinforces the
idea that certain groups are inherently inferior. By stripping away human characteristics,
the image effectively diminishes empathy toward the depicted group. Such
representations can escalate social conflict by deepening divisions, reinforcing
stereotypes, and making violent or discriminatory actions seem justified. When people
are seen as less than human, it becomes easier to justify exclusion, mistreatment, and
even violence.

Image 2: [Description of Image]

This image taps into stereotypes by illustrating a group in a way that aligns with
preconceived, often negative, notions about them. Whether it’s through a uniform or
specific clothing, physical appearance, or actions, the image reinforces a particular view
of the group that simplifies their identity into a narrow and biased frame. Stereotypes
reduce individuals to a set of generalized traits that ignore the complexity of their lived
experiences. Such imagery can contribute to social conflict by perpetuating
misunderstanding and mistrust between groups. When a group is consistently portrayed
in a stereotypical way, it becomes difficult for others to see them as multidimensional,
and this reinforces discrimination and social division.

Image 3: [Description of Image]

This image exemplifies the harmful impact of prejudice through the use of negative
symbols or words that evoke a sense of hostility and fear. Prejudicial images often
depict individuals or groups as dangerous, threatening, or undesirable, playing into the
fear of “the other.” By presenting these groups in a negative light, the image
perpetuates the idea that they pose a danger to society or certain cultural values. Such
images contribute to the escalation of social conflict by fostering an “us vs. them”
mentality, where one group feels threatened or justified in opposing the other. These
visuals often lay the groundwork for harmful policies, social exclusion, or even violence,
as they legitimize hostile actions based on unfounded fear or bias.
