Supply Chain Management Theory Resource

Problem Statement: The general problem to be addressed is various theories specific to supply chain management resulting in unique methods and boundaries that may improve supply chain management problems within businesses.

Identify Sample: Sampling was conducted through computing hardware security mechanisms, as well as supply chain experts, other researchers and security experts. According to Pennekamp et. al. (2024) their focus was using trusted computing software.

Discuss Research Paradigm: Positivism was mostly used by researchers for this assignment. Many of the researchers relied on observation and research studies to define their outcomes.

Discuss Bias: It’s important to note that each of the researchers referenced below defined supply chain management differently. Some included transportation, provisioning, external suppliers, vendors, logistics, accounting and finance and others did not. Depending on the researcher, they tend to be biased based on specific aspects and theories that they research or have used. For instance, Ralston et. al. (2023) believes that theories help to define methodology amongst researchers as well as describing, explaining, predicting, and showing action where challenges arise (p.142). By understanding a topic, researchers can apply foundations to what they feel is important to that topic due to failing to eliminate bias. According to Ralston et. al. (2023), “supply chains function best when they are an organized network through which firms get, use, and deliver products or services to customers” (p.144). However, Chen et.al. (2024) believes that there are constant uncertainties in supply chain management and focuses on the uncertainty theory and believes that the inevitable can occur at anytime regardless of what process or theory is used (p.610). According to Ketchen et. al. (2022), determined there were many underutilized approaches for supply chain management and that other theories may be more appropriate to use by eliminating bias and testing supply chain-specific theories that may explain or predict supply chain issues. According to Pennekamp et. al. (2024) believe special sensors is required to test supply chain-specific theories though they haven’t tested this concept yet; which relies on their bias.

Leading Theory: Factor Market Rivalry (FMR) theory was selected for this research and its relationship to the general theory of Supply Chain Management. Ralston et. al. (2023) defines factor market rivalry as an “intense battle for resource positions that are needed to manufacture, provide, or deliver firm products or services” (p.141).

Biblical Integration: 1 Corinthians 14:40 says “but all things should be done decently and in order,” this scripture tells us that improving supply chain management and developing new theories or methodologies is the way God would expect us to act for success. By having a supply chain management process and improving it, is Godly. 2 Corinthians 9:10 says, “he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness,” this verse tells us that God believed supply chain management was effective in this timeframe and therefore can be effective in ours as well. Lastly, Romans 8:28 says, “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose,” this verse tells us that if we love God, all good things will happen, therefore supplies will be abundant, and things will work.
