This assignment will be submitted to Turnitin.InstructionsAccording to their website, Ben & Jerry's was founded on and dedicated to a sustainable corporate concept of linked prosperity. While they sold their company to Unilever a couple of decades ago, their agreement was to maintain an independent board. They have a reputation as one of the leading innovative and socially responsible businesses. Although Ben & Jerry’s is not a “Christian” company this case is included as an exercise to study per Jesus’ parable in Luke 16:7-9. In verse 8 Jesus tells his listeners that the “sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.” Study the company and glean out the good while discarding the bad.

For this first session assignment, write a paper that uses the company's website, articles found on the Web, and the course text to support your exploration and answers to the following questions:

  • Is Ben & Jerry's Inc. a socially responsible and ethical organization? Does this align with a biblical worldview? Give specific examples from the text and support from Scripture.
  • How does corporate responsibility create value and sustainability for Ben & Jerry's?
  • How is Ben & Jerry’s taking advantage of global opportunities? What potential problems might arise with their social responsibility model from an international perspective?

Your paper must be:

  • Two to three pages in length (not including the cover page and reference page).
  • Written as an article that incorporates your conversation and answers into your paper; do not use a question and answer format.
  • Written in Word using APA format. Refer to the APA & Turabian Requirements module located in your course navigation bar.
  • Supported by a minimum of one scholarly source in addition to your textbook and the Ben & Jerry’s website. The CCU library is one place for locating these resources:
    • Video: Finding academic sources
  •
    • Video: Finding articles in the CCU library
  • Use the “Chat with a Librarian” and “Book a Librarian” services from the CCU library for research assistance.
