Baby Driver (Edgar Wright. 2017)
Edgar Wright’s film is a romantic musical disguised as a heist film. The plot is reminiscent of the film noirs of Hollywood’s forties and fifties, about a good guy forced into a life of crime. Exquisitely edited to a fantastic sound design and score, the film makes almost every scene a musical number, from the opening getaway chase to a gunfight where the gunshots and even windshield wiper blades are all choreographed and synchronized to the musical score. The film does contain scenes of violence.
