Module 4 – SLP
Database Systems and Knowledge Base
Go to
Kaggle.com
and register with any one of your email addresses. Kaggle is a open-source data repository often used in Data Analytics to practice with datasets.
Go to this
Kaggle dataset
that has 9,514 movies on Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney. Or you may find another streaming dataset that is newer and of more interest to you. Click
Download to download a zip file of the data in an Excel csv file. (Note, if you select another Kaggle dataset, make sure it is a
data site. Some are examples of programs, but most have data files along with their code).
Be sure to unzip the download.
With the Excel file you downloaded, describe how you would go about analyzing this data. In the Streaming Service comparison, what are the criteria you would use for comparison and how would you slice and dice the data? If your Excel skills are not rusty, do some analyses and make some graphs to post along with your SLP.
Go to the
Google Public Data directory
.
Here you will find many datasets. Select one of interest and then produce visualizations from the data. Describe the dataset you select and provide a screenshot of the visualization you produced.
Discuss the importance of such data repositories and the various tools one can use for data analytics. How do analytics and visualizations influence decision making?
Your report should be between 2 and 3 pages. Use material from the background information and any other sources you can find to support your discussion.
