Everyone has preconceptions and biases that may escape personal awareness. Cognitive biases
can lead to flawed thinking. As a student of psychology, you should be prepared to set aside your
preconceived notions and use critical thinking to objectively evaluate information in order to
minimize bias.

For this Assignment, you examine how cognitive bias has influenced your own thinking in a social
psychological context and how to use critical thinking to proactively identify cognitive biases. You
also consider how your awareness of cognitive bias and critical thinking will contribute to your
personal, professional, and academic success.
