You are expected to post a high-quality initial post and twohigh-quality responses to classmates. You will not be able to see or comment on your classmates’ posts until you have completed your initial post (try to get this done as early as possible so others can have time to read and respond).
Because of this, whatever is your first post (even if it is empty), that is what I will be grading as your initial post (if you initially forgot references and you only edit to add them, then points will not be deducted).
Requirements:
- Each discussion board response should be a minimum of 200 words in length, should specifically address each part of the question or each question, and refer to material from the reading to do so. You must include in-text citations from the APA 7th edition. You are required to have a minimum of 2 scholarly sources per discussion board.
- Your response to each other is required to be well thought-out. I will not accept “great idea,” “I agree,” or “Wow, I had not thought of that.” You should reply to individuals who either have a different argument than you or provided insight that you had not considered. Your replies should be a minimum of 150 words. You are required to respond to TWO of your classmates.
- You should be respectful in your responses and your post. If you disagree with someone, do so respectfully or do not comment. I have the right to delete any posts that are disrespectful or derogatory. If you feel that you cannot answer the DQ respectfully, please email me.
Scholarly Sources include:
- Your textbook (this is only ONE scholarly work)
- A journal article or book
- Conference Presentation
- Video Lectures
Answer the following questions:
- How would you define crime? Does one have to be caught for a crime to occur? (think about speeding or running a stop sign)
- What are some acts and characteristics that society has labeled “criminal” that could potentially be dangerous for marginalized communities (persons of color, youth, LGBTQ+, poor)? Explain thoroughly which actions and characteristics you chose and why you picked them.
