This assignment gives students an opportunity to apply principles of budget design, equity, and strategic planning to secure funding for an initiative that addresses an identified organizational need. It develops skills in resource justification, cost framing, and mission alignment.
Assignment Description:
Students will create a professional-style grant proposal seeking funding for an initiative that supports a pressing financial, equity, or strategic need in their organization or chosen scenario (e.g., K-12 district, college, nonprofit, or educational initiative). The proposal should show clear alignment with institutional priorities and demonstrate sound financial planning.
Requirements:

Executive Summary (½ page): Concise overview of the problem, proposed initiative, and funding request.
2.
Needs Statement (1 page): Description of the need, problem, or opportunity your proposal addresses, supported by data or examples.
3.
Goals & Objectives (½–1 page): Clear, measurable goals and outcomes of the initiative.
4.
Budget & Justification (1 page + table): Itemized budget of how funds will be used, with a rationale that links each expense to goals.
5.
Equity & Impact Statement (½ page): How the proposed initiative supports equity, access, and/or improved outcomes.
6.
Sustainability Plan (½ page): Explanation of how the initiative will be sustained after the grant term.
7.
APA 7 Style Requirements: Double-spaced, 12pt font, references if applicable, clear headings.
