Based on the challenges identified in Week 1 discussion, it is clear that the need for stronger communication, reliability and flexibility in my work environment is the focus. A transformational leadership model appears most suitable for addressing current societal and organization issues. Bratton (2023) highlights that modern organizations operate in conditions of uncertainty, rapid changes and increasing participants expectations. Transformational leadership helps leaders respond to these conditions by explaining a shared goal, encouraging improvement, and motivating individuals to push beyond routine tasks towards the main goals. In the work environment that experiences growth, change, or uncertainty, this approach supports order, commitment, and flexibility. In addition, factors of ethical and relational leadership are especially important given today’s societal focus on trust, transparency, and accountability. Bratton (2023) notes that leadership effectiveness increasingly depends on credibility, values, and the quality of leader follower relationships. By encouraging open communication and moral decision making, leaders can address both organizational performance and broader societal expectations.
The leadership style that best represents me is a transformational relational approach. I like to focus on clear communication, teamwork, and supporting others in understanding their roles on the team and focusing on the bigger picture at hand. Rather than replying solely on the higher ups or strict processes, I focus on building trust, encourage the team to speak up, and create consistent opportunities to share understanding and to take accountability. This approach allows me to guide the team through change while continuing day-to-day operations effectively and a build a positive work environment, aligning closely with Bratton’s (2023) view on leadership.
