Topic
My top choice for the final research assignment is legal liability for injuries in youth sports, with a specific focus on negligent supervision and duty of care related to overuse injuries in organized youth athletics. I selected this topic after conducting preliminary research and determining that there are numerous court cases and peer-reviewed scholarly articles addressing youth sport injuries, coach and organizational responsibilities, assumption of risk, and liability standards. Narrowing the topic to overuse injuries helps ensure the issue is not overly broad while allowing for meaningful legal analysis of negligence, waivers, and safety policies. The topic is well-supported in sport law literature and raises important implications for coaches, schools, and sport organizations responsible for protecting young athletes.
