Compare the exchange rate policies and mechanisms for each of the three countries, as well as with those of the United States. Use the resources on the Weighted Decision Matrix and conduct additional research to plot their trends and assess potential risk factors.
Select one country for initial expansion and justify your reasons based on the results from the Weighted Decision Matrix and your PESTLE, cultural, and currency analysis. Begin writing an informal list of risks in your selected country based on your research on the decision factors or any entry, operational, product, and other marketing risks you may anticipate. This will help you write the risk management strategy that you will write in week 6. Choose an entry strategy into your selected country (for example, export, franchise, licensing, greenfield investment, turnkey operation, or a joint venture) and explain why you chose that strategy. See Chapter 15 – Entry Strategy & Strategic Alliances for more details on developing an entry strategy. Write 4 to 5 pages (approximately 1200 to 1500 words) compiling your research from W2 and W3 for all three countries. Organize your paper by topic, with clear section headings using APA formatting (Political, Economic, etc.), and include an analysis of each of the three countries under each decision factor. Each section of the paper should use the data to explain why you assigned the scores you did to each decision factor.
The paper should be structured like this:
Introduction
PESTLE Analysis (compare data on each of the three countries under each factor)
Political Economic
Social
Technological
Legal Environmental
Cultural Analysis
Exchange Rate and Foreign Currency Policies
Country Selection and Entry Strategy
An efficient way to structure each part of the PESTLE, cultural, and exchange rate analysis is to:
Write a narrative presenting your research and comparing the costs, benefits, and risks of each country for each decision factor.
Present the data using a spreadsheet
Here is an example of how you might present your data for the “political” decision factor, the first indicator on the PESTLE analysis.
The Weighted Decision Matrix document has a tab with this sample.
You can use it to develop additional tables as necessary and can copy and paste your versions into your paper.
Key Indicators
Brazil
Chile
Colombia
Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)
Freedom of the Press
Management Index (Political Leadership Towards Democracy and a Market Economy
Status Index (Political and Economic Transformation)
Explain why you assigned each score on the Weighted Decision Matrix.
You must also: Use section headings to delineate each component of this week’s paper as bulleted above.
Upload your Weighted Decision Matrix as a separate document.
APA formatting is required. Be sure to include citations and references for the research that supports your paper, and continue using concepts, theory, and evidence from your textbook and course content to help justify your decisions.
