The Action Research Guidebook: A Process for Pursuing Equity and Excellence in Education 3rd Ed.

    By Richard Sagor

Concise Rules of APA Style 7th Ed.

   By The American Psychological Association

This is a long module. Use this module to focus on your research and writing. The first part of your paper is due in the next module, I do NOT recommend waiting until then to start writing your paper. If you would like, here is a template for a research matrix to help you organize your findings. If you choose to use the Research Matrix, download a copy for yourself and use it as a way to keep track of what you are reading. Remember, not everything you read is going to be useful for your study, but you won’t necessarily know that when you initially read it.

You will also need to have your initial methodology plan and share it in order to get feedback from your peers. In this module, there will also be a peer feedback expectation. This is the first time I am using that feature, so please be sure to let me know how it works for you.

Where are you now?

Option 1: Please explain where you are with your project. Share with your classmates your research question and current plan of action to gather data. What changes have you made? What have you learned so far?

Option 2: Share with your classmates what topic you settled on and what you are learning so far about how those researchers gathered their data and why they chose those styles.

Option 3: What is your current plan of action to analyze the data set you chose? What have you learned so far about the research question you chose?

****Assignment: Data Collection Action Plan*******

In this data collection plan, explain how you plan to collect and analyze the data (what is your methodology) for your project in your classroom or campus. Be as specific as you can be at this point, the more you know about how you will gather your data and why you are gathering it in that manner, the easier everything is when you create your data collection tool. Data are important, regardless of whether you see them as positive or negative; however, too much data can be overwhelming and for the purposes of this class you don’t have time to collect data on every class or every person. Choose your focus group wisely.

Please note – this is a current plan, you will most likely make changes and I will do my best to ask you helpful questions.

If you are doing option 2: Share some of the action research you have already found as well as some of the information you have discovered about your topic that you plan to use in your literature review (they are NOT the same thing).

If you are doing option 3: Share how you currently plan to analyze the data that has been provided for you based on your research question.

Please note – this is what you are finding now, I will do my best to offer suggestions of additional search terms you may use to help expand your research.

*****teachers feedback******

The topic you have chosen is incredibly important; however, how do you plan to put an action in place in your current situation and see what happens? What control do you have over the inequities you are looking at? You have explained why it is important to you, but you have not offered any thoughts on what action you will put into place with the students you serve. As it is now, you are talking about a traditional research project and not an action research project. You really need to think about your question. Your questions are good one, if we were simply learning more about what others have done. Their intention was for questions you still have about the process you are beginning. I am concerned that you are not fully grasping the expectations of the project and how to move forward. Don’t forget that references must be in alphabetical order.
