As a risk manager, it is essential that you are able to explain the concepts of risk management in the health care industry. In this instance, you have been tasked with identifying possible risks in a variety of areas and recommending actions to mitigate those risks. You will present your analysis to your leadership board.

Choose 3 risk domains and identify potential risks within each of the domains. You will choose 3 risks total to complete the presentation for leadership.

Domains of Enterprise Risks

  • Strategic
  • Examples of risks: mergers, acquisitions, brand/reputation
  • Operational
  • Examples of risks: efficiencies, following policies/procedures, equitable care
  • Financial
  • Examples of risks: capital, cost of malpractice claims, claims fraud/abuse, billing
  • Clinical/patient safety
  • Examples of risks: medication errors, patient and employee safety, hospital-acquired conditions
  • Human capital
  • Examples of risks: turnover, staffing, fatigue/overworked, companion, HR-related
  • Legal/regulatory
  • Examples of risks: following rules/regulations, licensing, accreditation, liability
  • Technology
  • Examples of risks: security of health records, maintenance of medical equipment

Assessment Deliverable

Create a 12- to 15-slide presentation in which you:

  • Describe each enterprise risk domain (3 slides).
  • Describe a potential risk for each domain (3 slides).
  • Analyze potential outcomes associated with each risk.
  • Recommend actions to avoid each risk (proactively).
  • Describe a plan to mitigate each risk (if it occurs).
  • Recommend actions to monitor each plan.

Include detailed speaker notes

Cite at least 3 sources and format them according to APA guidelines.
