who can assist with (2) 150-word responses with  1 reference apa format to the following below

  1. describe the roles and responsibilities of the APRN when prescribing medication.

Advanced nurse practitioners possess equivalent prescribing authority to primary care physicians. They can autonomously deliver medication to patients as a component of the therapeutic process. However, several states limit the ability to prescribe medication, and healthcare professionals may only do so under supervision (Clarke, 2023). To accurately prescribe medication to a patient, the practitioner must thoroughly examine the patient’s medical history, allergies, and past treatments to make informed decisions. The APRN’s responsibilities include dispensing patients with pertinent information, cautionary notices, and explicit directives. Conducting regular monitoring of the patient and taking drug prices into account when making prescription decisions is also essential.  Additionally, they should utilize suitable technologies, like as prescribing software and electronic medication references, to mitigate prescription errors (Boehning & Punsalan, 2023).

  1. Describe the method used to determine what drug therapy to prescribe.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) employ a methodical approach to ascertain the most suitable pharmacological treatment for their patients. According to Wirfs (2024), this process includes:

  • Assessment: APRNs collect extensive data regarding the patient’s health condition, encompassing their medical background, findings from physical examinations, and results from diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnosis: This entails determining the root cause of the symptoms and considering any concurrent illnesses.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: APRNs evaluate the most reliable evidence to determine the optimal and secure pharmacological treatment.
  • Personalized Care: Practitioners consider the distinct attributes of each patient, including their age, gender, comorbidities, and preferences. Pharmacological therapy is customized to the individual requirements and objectives of every patient.
  • Prescription: Once the patient consents to the suggested pharmacological treatment, the Nurse Practitioner will proceed to issue a prescription. The prescription will provide precise guidelines for the administration of the medication for the patient.
  • Post-Event Communication: Once the prescription has been issued, the nurse practitioner (NP) will arrange a subsequent consultation to assess and track the patient’s reaction to the medication treatment. This enables the nurse practitioner to make any required modifications to the treatment plan.
  • Collaboration: APRNs collaborate with patients, fellow healthcare providers, and interdisciplinary teams to guarantee a comprehensive and patient-centric approach to medication therapy. They solicit input from the patient and actively engage them in collaborative decision-making.
  • In addition, the APRN must be informed on newly introduced pharmaceuticals, medication alerts, and label modifications resulting from post-marketing analysis. The APRN must always stay updated on drug information due to its ever-changing nature.
  1. Discuss responsibilities for patient education and teaching based on the prescribed therapy.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) offer comprehensive information regarding the given medicine, encompassing its intended use, recommended dosage, instructions for administration, potential adverse effects, and necessary precautions (Aremu et al., 2022). Furthermore, APRNs inform patients about the significance of adhering to the drug regimen. This may involve instructing patients on how to monitor their symptoms, identify harmful responses, and respond appropriately. In addition, they offer advice on lifestyle adjustments and other non-pharmacological therapies. APRNs provide patients with education regarding the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which encompasses appropriate dietary choices, physical activity, and effective stress management techniques (Aremu et al., 2022).
