Assignment Overview
Signature Assignment: Critical Thinking, Reinforced Level
In this assignment, your critical-thinking skills will be assessed. The
critical-thinking rubric will be useful for this purpose. In HRM401,
critical-thinking skills were assessed at the “introduced” level. In
HRM402, they will be assessed at the “reinforced” level. Finally, in
HRM403, your skills will be assessed at the “mastered” level.
Case 2: Development Phase
Within the ADDIE Model, development has primarily bridged the
stages of design and implementation. Although the lines between
design and development have blurred throughout the history of
instructional design, this stage focuses on the tools and processes
to be used in the creation of instructional materials (Ozdilek &
Robeck, 2009). Thus, it takes the ideas brought forth from the initial
stages of analysis and design and further objectifies and makes
those ideas more tangible.

Case Assignment
Continue with the training topic you selected for your Case 1 paper.
Walk through, step by step, the Development phase of the ADDIE
model. Be as specific as possible. If there is unknown information,
make logical assumptions to fill in the information needed and
include a section in your paper showing the assumptions you made.
Bring in at least two valid and reliable high-quality peer-reviewed
sources found in the Trident Online Library. These two high-quality
sources are in addition to your provided course materials. (Be sure
to cite sources within the text of your paper as well as list each in
the Reference section.)
As you select two outside high-quality sources for Case 2, you may

Development Phase
1. Draft a lesson plan on paper and two samples
of course materials (visual handouts, charts,
images, and/or short slide presentations you
have chosen to use), taking into consideration
the following:

Design phases should guide
your decisions and material
choices.
b. Monitor carefully your
decisions related to content
organization and content
depth.
c. Strive to enhance
performance rather than

making specific references to
different materials.
e. Plan online content (if online
content will be useful).
f. Decide about the media and
other equipment. Consider

g. Utilize medium that is close

2. Conduct a pilot test of the lesson plan with a
friend and assess their feedback.
3. Provide an overall analysis and critique of the
lesson plan and the results of the pilot test.
Once you have completed the Development phase of the ADDIE
Model, submit your paper to the Case 2 dropbox by the assignment
due date.

Assignment Expectations
The Case grading rubric for this HRM402 assignment has been
developed with a critical-thinking criterion to measure student
success in meeting Case 2 expectations related to critical thinking
at the reinforced level. The same criterion is used to measure
critical thinking in the other two courses with critical-thinking
signature assignments.
