Cultural Interview Assignment

· Contact an individual from the cultural group selected in module two (with their consent) and conduct a cultural interview.  

· This interview can be in person, over the phone, or through a video call. 

· The person is : a White American Christian female

· Respect the interviewee’s privacy and cultural beliefs. 

· Be sure to answer the following questions in the presentation:

1. In decision-making concerning health, how much do your family intervene?

2. If anyone in the family is ill, how do families assist the sick member?

3. In what ways does your religion affect decisions that are related to your health?

4. Are there particular religious practices that are essential to you when you are sick?

5. Would you like to share with me any traditional health practices that are prevalent in your
culture?

6. How do you integrate traditional approaches with formal medical care?

7. In terms of health communication from doctors and other healthcare providers, which
method do you prefer?

8. Are there any strategies that make you feel more comfortable or respected during your
encounters with your doctors and other healthcare givers?

9. In your culture, can you enumerate some of the regular foods that you take and their
religious/cultural implication on your diet?

10. In as much as your cultural diets influence your health, how do you modify your diet
when you are sick?

· Did your preconceptions or stereotypes influence the interview process? 

· What cultural factors emerged during the interview that could impact healthcare decisions?

· How might you adapt your nursing practice to provide culturally competent care for individuals from this cultural group based on the interview insights?
