Addresses outcomes 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7:
· have a good understanding of the history and character of microbiology
· gain an understanding and appreciation for the basic chemistry of life and microbial metabolism
· understand genetic engineering of microbes to include the methods used and potential risks
· identify the interaction of microbes in relation to humans and disease, including methods used to control and cure microbial diseases
· demonstrate a basic understanding of the virus and other infectious agents
Project Information: The final assessment for this course will be a substantial final project that will be submitted to the assignment folder as a research paper. To successfully complete this assignment, you will need to integrate concepts and skills learned throughout the course, apply them to a real-world situation.
