PART B 200 words

For this discussion forum, please reflect on:

Sometimes understanding differences in employees’ personalities helps managers understand how to motivate them. Find out about your personality by going to the Human Metrics Web site (

www.humanmetrics.com

) and take the Jung Typology Test (based on Carl Jung’s and Isabel Myers-Briggs’s approaches to typology).

After taking the test to see your personality type, do a Google search to gain more information about your type.

1. What is your personality type, according to the Jung Typology Test?

2.  What are some characteristics of your personality type?  How can this help you understand your motivations?

3. Do you feel as if this personality type accurately reflects you?

4. What do you see as some possible weaknesses with this personality type?

5.  The text states “personality tests may be used to assess an applicant’s potential for a certain kind of work and his or her ability to fit into the organization’s culture” (Ferrell, Hirt, & Ferrell, 2015, pg. 200).  What do you see as strengths in your personality type for certain types of jobs?

Example below

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is an integral component of personal and professional success. It compromises 4 key factors, which include self-awareness, social awareness, self-management and relationship management.  How can these 4 factors affect career success.

Self-awareness involves recognizing and understanding your own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, values, and motives. Self-awareness affects career success by allowing people to make more informed and rational decisions, which is required in the workplace since your actions affect not only yourself, but also your coworkers and the organization you’re in. Self-awareness also boosts your confidence and allows for continuous personal growth.

Self-management is the ability to control your own emotions and behaviors. Self-management and its impact on career success include resiliency, adaptability and productivity, all of which are beneficial to staying positive, managing stress, remaining versatile and navigating challenges in the workplace. Great self-management is key to being an asset in the workplace.

Social awareness involves understanding and empathizing with the emotions of others, as well as being aware of social dynamics within a group or organization. Social awareness has an impact on career success including effective communication to both your bosses and coworkers, collaboration, and conflict resolution. Even when not working in a team environment, I’d say it’s good to understand the impacts social awareness can have on your career.

Relationship management is the ability to build, maintain, and enhance healthy relationships through effective communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration. Relationship management and its impact on career success includes strong leadership and relationship management skills, building and maintaining relationships that can open doors to new opportunities and influence/motivation through relationship management, which is important to finishing projects and organizational goals. I’m working on the networking portion right now as its important to the cybersecurity field.

I have more to learn when it comes to EQ, and I’m not perfect but I’m confident that I have the potential to be a great future leader.
