According to Abraham. (2012), “corporate social responsibility is the idea that business has a
duty to society as well as the financial interest of stockholders”. Target social responsibility are
all organized through design and elevating sustainable brands, innovating to eliminate waste and
accelerating opportunity and equity. Target forward is the company’s plan for their sustainability
implementation. By utilizing sustainable products and reducing their footprint by volunteering in
communities target is set to utilize 100% renew or energy by 2030. Target’s sustainable brands
such as Ever Spring Universal thread are use with materials that are recyclable. In 2018 target
partnered with Ellen MacArthur and committed to providing sustainable packaging.

Target’s goals are that by 2040 they reduce their Green House Gas footprint by 0, their
guest and team members will have a healthy environment as well as team members operations
and supply chain. To achieve zero emissions, emissions must be reduced to a 1.5 Celsius
pathway. From 2022 14% emissions have been reduced, and 66% renewal energy has been
utilized.

Target foundation has invested in many organizations that promote the nature of work,
financial resilience, and inclusion which support low income families and support and resources
needed to achieve success. Target supports FreeForm, an organization that supports survivors
and gender based due to violence to build financial security. Target foundation has committed to
their savings match program that has helped over 1,300 survivors (Target corp., 2024). Target has
a ongoing plan to create sustainability by eliminating waste and accelerating opportunity. Their
progress has shown through their volunteering work, integrated brands, and environmental
community social responsibilities. These initiatives are effective and will continue to be effective
till they meet their goals for the company and their efforts and achievement will be demonstrated
through their engagement as a community.

Hi Class,

Digital payment leader PayPal Holdings, Inc. uses CSR. Corporate social responsibility at
PayPal promotes financial inclusion, environmental protection, and fairness. The organization
seeks financial inclusion and global fairness (Abraham, 2012). The company’s CSR’s Financial
Inclusion program is extensive. PayPal has supported minority-owned and small businesses in
several ways. PayPal’s Empowerment Grants program helps minority-owned businesses affected
by systemic discrimination or COVID-19 (PayPal 2024). The campaign seeks to remove
economic barriers to economic empowerment for disadvantaged groups.

Environmental protection is another PayPal CSR priority. PayPal will use renewable energy
exclusively for its data centers by 2040 to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions. PayPal (2024)
reduces its carbon footprint by optimizing energy use and incorporating sustainability. It hopes
this will aid global environmental goals, particularly climate change.

Pay Pal’s CSR goals include fairness and equality. PayPal promotes LGBTQ+ and racial equality.
PayPal gave millions to civil rights groups for racial justice (2024). It promised to fight systemic
inequality for a fairer society. In their backward integration plan, PayPal’s CSR initiatives
improve sustainability and social well-being. The company’s financial inclusion programs have
helped many small businesses, especially in this economy. PayPal has global sustainability goals
and publicly pledged carbon reduction. Abraham (2012) claims that CSR must be aligned with
business strategy to be vital to long-term success.

Transparency and metrics add another CSR program evaluation method. PayPal updates its CSR
activities regularly for accountability and reliability (2024). Paypal’s long-term plan shows that
CSR matters (Knowles et al., 2022). The company CSR shows its social and environmental
concerns. PayPal can improve its image by prioritizing financial inclusion, social justice, and
sustainability. PayPal’s success and longevity depend on its clear goals and honest reporting.
