Choose a community that you have a connection to and are familiar with (
please use Chicago Illinois, if you need a specific area, Rogers park community). Thinking about this community, you will write a paper using theories and information gained in this class to thoughtfully propose a quality of life improvement project.

This paper should focus on and reference
at least one of the theories you’re employing (see Chapter 2 of your text) and be centered around either further improving a community asset, strength, or opportunity (see asset-based community development) or improving/refining/mitigating a threat or weakness in the community (see SWOT analysis) (although, if your project is addressing assets and weaknesses/threats, that is acceptable as well!).

Beyond the information above, be sure that your paper addresses:

· The community and its current situation (population, location, and any other relevant data/information).

· WHAT does quality of life mean to you and your community?

· WHICH theor(ies) are you focusing on and why?

· Are you improving assets/strengths/opportunities or are you improving/refining/mitigating threats/weaknesses?

· WHY did you choose to go that route?

· WHAT is your project/proposal (description)?

· WHY it is important/impactful to the community and its quality of life?

· WHAT is the overall community benefit?

· HOW would you involve the public to get their buy in/participation?

· HOW you would implement the project (steps)?

· WHAT is the timeline for this project?

· HOW MUCH do you anticipate the project to cost (if anything)?

· WHO might be partners in this project?

· The midterm paper should follow the guidelines below:

· 6-10 pages (not including title page)

· .doc, .docx, or .pdf submissions.

· Double-spaced

· One-inch margins

· 12-point Times New Roman font (or other acceptable APA options such as 11-point Georgia, 11-point Calibri, 11-point Arial, or 10-point Lucida Sans Unicode).

· Left aligned.

· Page numbers are included in the top right corner of the document.

· A title page should be included as page 1. This should include:

· The title of your paper

· Your name

· This course number/name

· Instructor

· Date

· Use in-text citations as necessary and appropriate (here are some more resources)

· Include a reference page.

· The paper should include well-developed thoughts and ideas that are supported by your resources (text/lectures/other materials you want to include).

· The paper should be proofread and use appropriate headings/transitions to make the information clear and easy to understand.
