III Diagnostic Microbiology
Practical Section
First Semester (1446H)
DM Practical Section Report (30 marks)
Choose one of the following topics and write a DETAILED laboratory
diagnosis report (only ONE student per report) step by step starting from
the sample you received then how to process it and the results of the tests you
can perform until you reach a final identification of the bacteria. It is
important to include images in the report.
These are the topics to choose from:
1. Laboratory diagnosis of Staphylococcus aureus
2. Laboratory diagnosis of Streptococcus pyogenes
3. Laboratory diagnosis of Streptococcus agalactiae
4. Laboratory diagnosis of Neisseria meningitidis
5. Laboratory diagnosis of Neisseria gonorrhoeae
6. Laboratory diagnosis of Escherichia coli
7. Laboratory diagnosis of Klebsiella pneumoniae
8. Laboratory diagnosis of Salmonella typhi
9. Laboratory diagnosis of Salmonella typhimurium
10. Laboratory diagnosis of Shigella dysenteriae
11. Laboratory diagnosis of Haemophilus influenzae
12. Laboratory diagnosis of Pseudomonas aeruginosa
13. Laboratory diagnosis of Vibrio cholerae
14. Laboratory diagnosis of Vibrio Parahaemolyticus
15. Laboratory diagnosis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Following are the instructions for preparation of the report:
• The submitted file should be PDF and the naming of the file should
include the name of the student.
• Each report should include a cover page with the title on the top of the
page and under the title full name of the student and group number
should be written.
• Sections of the report should be well organized and clear.
• Each report should not contain useless information and should be
relevant to the main topic.
• Any report with missing or incomplete information may lose marks.
• If you do not include images, you might lose marks.
• Be aware not to copy and paste sentences and paragraphs from the
websites and articles. You must paraphrase all texts. They will be
checked for similarities and if the percentage is high, you will lose
marks.
• Do not copy from each other. Each student must work individually.
