The Ethnic Groups from Iran:  Death of the Shah of Iran and the Rise of the Ayatollah in Iran (1980s)

The Ethnic Groups from the Dissolution of the Country formerly known as Yugoslavia and its neighbors (Albania, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo) Refugees during the 1990s

Kurds from Kurdistan (4th World):  Kurds from Iran, Iraq, and Turkey (1980s–2020s)

The Ethnic Groups from Iraq:  Gulf Wars (1990s–2000s)

The Ethnic Groups from Afghanistan (2000s)

The Ethnic Groups from the Ukraine invaded by Russia (2020s)

Choose one of the following immigrant groups:

Using the same criteria that we are using during our study for comparison:

1.  After choosing the immigrant group, establish the historical context of that Ethnic Group in its country of origin What are the PUSH FACTORS

2.  When did this Ethnic group begin coming to the United States?  When did the bulk of them arrive?  What are the PULL FACTORS

3. Discuss the issue of Legal and Illegal Immigration with regard to this Ethnic Group;  What has been their experience with Naturalization

4.  Discuss the major Urban areas that hosted this Ethnic Group upon entry into the US, The Ethnic Enclave for ONE Specific City After entry into the US.  If part of the group moved west Or east, to what major cities did they move?

5.  BIBLIOGRAPHY:  MUST CONTAIN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SOURCES

6.  USE DOCUMENT: HOW TO WRITE A BIBLIOGRAPHY to write your Bibliography If you are using INTERNET SOURCES, the CITATION FORM is AUTHOR (if there is one), “Title,” (in quotes), the URL, AND the Date you accessed it.

7.  PRE-FINAL PAPER SUBMISSIONS SHOULD BE SENT TO ME AS AN ATTACHMENT TO AN EMAIL.

8.  FINAL PAPER SUBMISSION SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO THE TURNITIN PORTAL.

THE DOCUMENT:  5 page minimum submitted to the

1. Must have an Introduction and a Conclusion based upon the directions in the assignment. IF NOT THEN -5 POINTS FOR EACH OMISSION

2. Do not use contractions.

3. Use examples to support your ideas.

4. Edit your paper, check for spelling, etc.

5. Read your paper aloud. Have a friend in class read it.  Have your clearly stated your ideas.

6. It must have footnotes, endnotes or MLA INTEXT CITATIONS–your choice of style. IF NO CITATIONS THEN I MUST ASSUME THAT THE WORK IS COPIED FROM SOMEWHERE

7. PARAPHRASE WHAT YOU HAVE READ AND CITE THE SOURCE
