Start Date: 18_/_8__/_2024__
End Date: __10_/_11__/__2024_

(Report Components)
What are the activities and tasks given to you during this
month?
This month, I focused on two main areas: bank statement
reconciliation and QuickBooks training.

Task(s)

Bank Statement Reconciliation: I spent a lot of time
analyzing our bank statements and making sure our recorded
sales matched up with actual bank deposits. Whenever there
were discrepancies, like timing issues with certain
transactions, I worked with other teams to sort things out and
document them accurately.
QuickBooks Training: I attended a training session on
QuickBooks, where I learned how to create and manage
customer profiles, enter invoices, process payments, and run
bank reconciliations. I also practiced generating financial
reports using QuickBooks, which was a great way to get
comfortable with its bank feed feature.
What skills did you learn through the month?
I picked up several valuable skills this month:

New skill(s)

Attention to Detail and Analytical Thinking: Working
with large data sets, especially for reconciliation, helped me
refine my attention to detail, which was key in catching and
fixing any errors.
QuickBooks Proficiency: I got a solid hands-on experience
with QuickBooks. I learned how to manage invoices, perform
reconciliations, and create reports, all of which deepened my
confidence with the software.

College of Administration and Finance Sciences
Data Entry Accuracy: I became more precise in data entry,
especially for invoices and expenses, which reduced errors
and kept the financial records clean.
Time Management: Meeting deadlines, especially for
reconciliation tasks, taught me how to balance accuracy with
efficiency.
How many meetings did you attend?
I attended several meetings that helped me stay on track and
deepen my learning:

Meeting(s)

QuickBooks Training Session: This session gave me an
excellent foundation in using QuickBooks, covering
everything from customer profiles to financial reporting.
Weekly Check-Ins with Supervisor: These meetings were
an opportunity to discuss my progress, go over reconciliation
reports, and address any issues I encountered.
What are the difficulties you had this month?
Timing Differences in Bank Reconciliation: Some
transactions, particularly credit card payments, were recorded
before clearing in the bank, requiring additional follow-up.
Navigating QuickBooks Features: Initially, I found it
challenging to locate specific functions and customize reports
to meet the company’s needs.

Difficulty/ Challenge(s)

Handling Invoice Errors: Occasionally encountered
incorrect data on invoices, requiring coordination with the
sales team to correct details like customer information or
service descriptions.
How did you overcome these difficulties?
I addressed these challenges with the following approaches:
Follow-Up on Timing Differences: I worked closely with
the relevant departments, such as sales and cash handling, to

College of Administration and Finance Sciences
understand the sources of timing issues and adjusted records
accordingly.
QuickBooks Practice and Resource Use: Spent additional
time practicing in QuickBooks and referred to online guides
and training materials. This additional effort improved my
familiarity with the software’s navigation and customization
options.
Invoice Accuracy Checks: I developed a checklist to review
invoice details before submission, reducing errors and
ensuring that invoices accurately reflected customer
information and pricing.

What did you learn from completing the tasks
Working through these tasks taught me a lot:
Importance of Accurate Financial Records: Reconciling
bank statements highlighted just how crucial it is to keep
financial records accurate, both to prevent errors and to
detect any potential fraud.

Learning

QuickBooks Benefits: Learning QuickBooks showed me
how accounting software can simplify work, give us realtime information, and make our workflows more efficient.
It’s a powerful tool for organizing financial data and making
quick, well-informed decisions.
Effective Communication: Collaborating with other
departments to resolve discrepancies reminded me of the
importance of clear and timely communication, especially in
accounting roles.
