Week 2: Ambulatory and Inpatient Data Sets Assignment

Ambulatory and Inpatient Data Sets

Students are expected to research the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS) and the Uniform Ambulatory Care Data Set (UACDS). After researching the data sets, the student will develop and present a 5-10 slide PowerPoint presentation that includes:

· a description of both data sets

· where they are used (healthcare setting)

· the purpose of the data sets

· describe how the UHDDS impacts the DRGs

· compare and contrast 2 major differences in the UHDDS and UACDS

· a brief synopsis of 4-5 data elements that are collected for each data set

After developing the PPT presentation, you must add voice to the presentation using a multimedia tool of you choosing. Once the multimedia presentation is complete the presentation link must be copied and pasted into the assignment submission area. This assignment is worth 50 points.

Students will be graded on the following:

· A thorough description of the UHDDS and UACDS, where they are used and the purpose of the data sets (20 points)

· A complete description on how the UHDDS impacts the DRGs (10 points)

· A comparison and contrast of 2 major differences in the UHDDS and UACDS (10 points)

· A brief synopsis of 4-5 data elements collected in each data set (10 points)
