Week 2 Discussion: Recent Research – Group 10
You will need to save the articles because you will upload your selections to this discussion assignment. Make sure you upload PDF files. Links will not work correctly. Make sure you take notes, highlight sections, etc. in the file you are attaching. The discussion assignment will allow you to upload or attach one file with each post, which means you will need to make additional posts to upload all of the required articles for this assignment.
Once you have your three articles you need to read them and take notes. For this week’s discussion, you are going to explain what the current scientific opinion is related to the theory you selected and how it is used in research.
Your Initial Response
First, introduce your theory. Then, provide a brief overview of what the current scientific opinion is related to the theory summarized in your own words. You want to determine if the theory is still relevant today. You must use the three peer-reviewed research articles. You may wish to add additional peer-reviewed sources, especially if your sources draw conflicting conclusions about the theory. Citations for each source must be included at the end of your response. Make sure you use APA format when citing sources in text and at the end of a response. Finally, provide an overall conclusion based on the articles you read.
Questions you may want to consider include the following:
· Does recent research support the theory?
· How well does the theory explain the findings of the more recent research?
· Are the theory’s main constructs measurable?
· Is the theory relevant today or is it outdated?
· Has the theory been revised?
· Does the theory continue to explain aspects of development in emerging adulthood?
Your response must be in your own words (do not use direct quotes from any of the articles). You also need to demonstrate a scientific writing style and include all citations at the end of your response. Make sure your response is prepared in paragraphs (usually 4-6 sentences in a paragraph) and meets the word count requirement for discussion assignments (500-1,000 words). Generative AI cannot be used in the response.
