As part of our ongoing exploration of technology and writing, this optional online discussion invites you to consider the potential risks or concerns surrounding student use of Generative AI (GenAI) in academic settings. I created this discussion prompt with the assistance of ChatGPT on August 4, 2025. 

 Instructions:

Find a recent article (published within the last 2 months) that discusses concerns about students using GenAI for school work.

The article can focus on academic integrity (e.g., plagiarism, unfair advantage) or environmental concerns (e.g., carbon emissions from large language models).

Create a new post in this discussion thread that includes:

A proper citation of the article in APA or MLA style.

A link to the article (if available online).

A 2-sentence summary of the article’s main concern(s).
