Objective: The second assignment aims to foster a deeper understanding of healthcare systems by  

comparing the Canadian healthcare system with that of another developed country. Students are  

required to identify similarities, differences, and gaps in the healthcare structures, policies, and  

outcomes. The ultimate goal is to propose improvements for the Canadian healthcare system based  

on insights gained from the comparative analysis.

Assignment Components:

Selection of Developed Country: (10%)

Choose a developed country other than Canada for comparison.

Provide a brief rationale for your selection, highlighting key aspects you plan to explore.

Overview of Selected Healthcare System: (25%)

Introduce the chosen country’s healthcare system, emphasizing its structure, principles, and notable  

features.

Reference authoritative sources, government reports, or reputable healthcare publications. Utilize  

at least 5 published papers or academic references.

Comparative Analysis: (30%)

Compare and contrast the Canadian healthcare system with the selected country’s system.

Explore key metrics such as accessibility, quality of care, patient outcomes, and healthcare  

expenditures, …

Identify strengths and weaknesses in both systems.

Identifying Gaps in Canadian Healthcare: (20%)

Based on the comparative analysis, pinpoint specific gaps or areas where the Canadian healthcare  

system can be improved.

Provide a rationale for why these gaps are considered significant, supporting your points with  

evidence from academic literature, reports, or expert opinions. Include at least 5 published papers  

or academic references.

Recommendations for Improvement: (15%)

Propose concrete and feasible recommendations for addressing the identified gaps in the Canadian  

healthcare system.

Justify each recommendation with evidence, citing relevant research, case studies, or successful  

practices from other healthcare systems. Include at least 3 published papers or academic  

references.

Class Presentation Opportunity (Extra Credit):

Similar to Assignment 1, students have the option to volunteer for a presentation opportunity based  

on their comparative analysis. The first three students to express interest via email will be accepted.  

This additional effort will be rewarded with extra credit points.

Submission Guidelines:

Organize the assignment with clear headings, subheadings, and a logical flow.

Every statement or claim must be supported by credible references.

Utilize a diverse range of sources, including academic literature, government reports, and reputable  

healthcare journals.

Adhere to proper citation guidelines (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago).

Emphasize responsible resource use, and mention that the report will be subject to plagiarism  

checks using the Turnitin tool.

Word Limit:

The assignment should be between 2500 and 3000 words.
