Select a podcast episode or documentary that centers on a real victim or survivor of crime. It should include the victim’s experience, the justice system’s response, and the broader context of the case.

Step 2: Create a PowerPoint (8–10 slides)

Your slides should include the following:

1. Title Slideo Name, course, case title, source (podcast or documentary)2. Overview of the Caseo Who was the victim?o What crime occurred?o Where and when did it happen?3. Victim’s Experienceo How did the crime impact the victim?o Were there signs of trauma, resilience, or ongoing harm?4. Justice System Responseo Was the offender caught and prosecuted?o Were the victim’s rights (to be heard, notified, protected, etc.) respected?5. Barriers or Failures in the Systemo Did the victim face disbelief, delay, or injustice?6. Support & Remedieso What services or supports did the victim access?o Was restitution, compensation, or healing discussed?7. Connection to Victimology Conceptso Apply 2-4 concepts or theories from class (e.g., secondary victimization, victims’ rights, trauma-informed care)8. Your Insights or Takeawayso What stood out to you?o What could the system have done differently?

Step 3: 1-Page Written Reflection (double spaced)

Write a 1-page reflection that addresses the following:

• Why did you choose this case?• What did you learn about victim experiences that surprised or moved you?• How did creating the presentation help you understand victims’ rights and remedies more deeply?• What questions are you left with?
