Assignment Six: Victim Resource Chart and Analysis
Step One:
Find 8-10 different victim support services in your county, city, or surrounding area(I’m in Atlanta Georgia). These can be government-run or nonprofit organizations and should offer support for victims of any type of crime (e.g., domestic violence, sexual assault, homicide survivors, child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, etc.).
Create a chart using the following format:
What county, city, or area are you researching? :
Organization Name
Type of Service
Who They Serve
Contact Info
Notes on Access
Example: Safe Haven Shelter
Emergency shelter, counseling, hotline
Women and childrensurvivors of domestic violence
[Phone number, website link, address]
24/7 hotline; offers Spanish-language support
Do not use generic directories or AI. This should reflect real services in your area.
Step Two: In a short essay, reflect on and analyze your findings. Use at least 4-5 concepts from class and 3-4 scholarly source to support your points.
Suggested Questions to Answer:
• Are the services easily accessible to most victims? (consider location, language, hours, affordability)• Are there any clear gaps in service types or populations served?• How well do the services reflect a trauma-informed or victim-centered approach?• Are victims’ rights (notification, safety, participation, compensation) addressed in any of these services?• What improvements or additions would you suggest for your community?
You may refer to readings, lectures, or your textbook to support your analysis (APA citations required for outside sources).
