Self-Nominations Due: Feb. 28, 2025

Eligibility: To be inducted into the President’s Circle, you must be eligible to graduate, plan to attend NU’s commencement in May, and be available to attend the President’s Circle luncheon on May 16, 2025.

Overview: The President’s Circle is an elite group of students from each of National University’s colleges:

· Sanford College of Education

· School of Arts, Letters, and Sciences

· School of Health Professions

· JFK School of Psychology and Social Sciences

· College of Law and Public Service

· College of Business, Engineering and Technology

The students represent learning journeys and degree pathways from associate degrees through doctoral studies, representing each school and college. Students are selected based on: Academic Excellence, Leadership Today and Tomorrow, Ability to Represent NU, Personal Character, Initiative and Potential for Impact, and other special circumstances.

Each year, President’s Circle students are invited to attend a special celebratory luncheon before commencement with the university president and deans, where they receive a congratulatory certificate and President’s Circle cords to wear at commencement, as well as the opportunity to share more about their accomplishments and plans. President’s Circle students are also featured on National University’s website, NU’s social media and other publications, and are offered opportunities to assist with research, grant writing, foundation presentations, and more.

Student Nomination Process: Students who meet the eligibility criteria to attend commencement in the given year and meet the requirements above of a high-achieving student may nominate themselves to the President’s Circle. Students should send a
self-nomination letter (500 words maximum) to their school at the email below outlining why they think they should be inducted into the President’s Circle.
Students should also include their: full name, ID number, email addresses, phone numbers, program, and school. Please save your Word file name as: “LastName_FirstName_StudentID_PC” for proper identification.

Please address the following criteria in your self-nomination statement:
 

Academic Excellence
 

Exemplars may include outstanding GPA, frequent inclusion on the Dean’s List, and academic awards for excellence
 

Leadership Today and Tomorrow
 

Exemplars may include leadership demonstrated at NU, leadership today in their community or workplace, and leadership potential after graduation
 

Ability to Represent NU
 

Exemplars may include current and future plans for service to their field and their community, professional disposition, alignment with NU mission and vision, and other values such as DE&I
 

Personal Character
 

Exemplars may include the demonstration of high ethical standards, respect for others, and social and emotional intelligence/SEL traits
 

Initiative and Potential for Impact
 

Exemplars may include the student’s aspirations to make a difference in the world, contribute to positive change, drive innovation, and solve big problems
 

Special Circumstances
 

Exemplars may include challenges and or accomplishments such as overcoming adversity, being a life-long striver and change agent, and special recognitions or achievements
