1- Write a 2-page double-spaced paper based on the Characteristics of a Healthy Family in the Twenty First Century
Long-term trends show families have changed in many ways. Some experts argue that families are declining, while the opposing side argues that families are changing and adapting to larger societal changes. Under Learning Resources, Topic 1, you will find the Cox PowerPoint and a link to 10 Characteristics of a Healthy Family. Utilizing these resources and Chapter 14 from your embedded textbook write a paper on the Characteristics of a Healthy Family in the Twenty First Century. Remember to cite when taking information from the textbook or other sources.
You need to utilize at least two scholarly resources for this paper. The embedded textbook contains a wealth of information and can be used as one of the resources for this assignment.
2- Read Chapters 6-12 in the book, Things I Wish I’d Known Before I Got Married. Each answer should be a minimum of 1/2 page.
1. What is the 10-10-80 plan Dr. Chapman describes? Do you feel this is a realistic plan? Why or why not?
2. In Chapter 6-12, “I Wish I Had Known That I Was Marrying Into a Family” Dr. Chapman identifies areas that may call for an understanding and negotiation. Identify these areas and give examples from each that could be or have been sources of conflict. How could you resolve?
3. Is it important to be in basic agreement on social, spiritual, and intellectual interests each has in the couple? How do you determine if you have common values? Can a couple still feel in love with contradictory value systems and goals?
4. Dr. Chapman discusses various personality types (chapter 12). How does he describe a pessimist and optimist in the areas of adventure and money management? Where do you fall? Why?
5. After reading Chapter 12, rate yourself on the personality scale provided on page 143. Describe your findings and why you rated yourself accordingly in each category. (Ratings and Explanation are needed for full credit)
3- Develop a PowerPoint (minimum of 10 slides) on Managing Finances Responsibly as a Family. Use electronic resources to gather your information. You may use any source, including ChatGPT, as long as you provide the appropriate citations. Your PowerPoint must, however, be your work. You cannot simply copy a presentation or have an electronic source develop the PowerPoint for you. Include societal challenges that impact the American family’s ability to management their money. Each slide needs a citation. You need introductory, summary slide and reference slides. Assume you are teaching a money management session to college students who are preparing for marriage. Make sure that your PowerPoint contains graphics, as well as words. You may include automation if you choose. Remember your audience. Think about preparing information that will appeal to traditional aged college students (18 to 22).
4- Reflect on the key points Dr. Chapman makes in Chapter 2 & Chapter 3 of The Five Love Languages. Do you agree or disagree with the points made by Dr. Chapman? Give illustrations from your life to support or refute (the illustrations do not have to be about you). Your video should be 3 to 4 minutes in length.
