BUSINESS (NO PLAGARISM A+ WORK, ON TIME)

If my best friend owned a small children’s clothing store in a downtown area losing traffic to larger retailers and new strip malls, I would first recommend focusing on differentiation, community connection, and digital visibility, three areas where small businesses can compete effectively without high costs.

Based on marketing strategies studied in this course, I would suggest she build a strong online presence through social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.  These platforms allow her to showcase new arrivals, post short videos featuring local children modeling the clothing, and promote limited-time offers or “shop local” campaigns.  Implementing an email newsletter or customer loyalty program would also encourage repeat visits by offering small discounts or exclusive previews.

She can also partner with local schools, daycare centers, and community events to provide sponsorships, pop-up sales, or donation drives that connect her brand to family values and local pride.  Hosting small weekend event like “Mom and Me” styling days or back-to-school sales can drive traffic without major advertising costs.

Small businesses thrive when they emphasize personalized service and community relationships qualities big-box stores often lack.  By blending traditional customer service with affordable digital marketing, my friend can rebuild her local following and position her store as the go-to destination for quality children’s clothing and a personalized shopping experience.

If this scenario were to present itself to me today, I would make a few key recommendations to my friend. One key thing to note is most large companies’ sole focus is making as much money as possible. They do not care about the quality of the product they are selling, the customers they are selling to, or the employees that work for them. They will fire an employee today and have a new one in to replace them tomorrow. One thing I would suggest to my friend is to be a business people love. That can be done through numerous ways such as creating an authentic and fun shopping experience, making a great quality product, caring about employees, and caring about the customers and the community that support you. We all know a brand we consistently choose over another because we like what the company stands for and we do not mind paying an extra dollar or two if that means supporting them.

Some low-cost strategies I would suggest are getting active online and using social media platforms such as Instagram or Facebook as free marketing. You could build a following online and do easy promotions or giveaways that require your followers to tag three other followers for low-cost exposure. Also, you could see if you could partner with another local store or restaurant in the town and do a collaboration, supporting their brand and in turn they support yours. By staying consistent on these platforms, you are constantly on the consumers’ minds, and you are building a larger following.

Another low-cost strategy could be to get active in the local community. Set up booths at the local farmers market or pay for a small sponsorship/ billboard at the local schools. Everyone knows about the large brand name stores, but small things like that will make them remember you as an option to shop at as well. Additionally, you could offer small discount cards that you hand out at these events, this will get more foot traffic into your stores and increase sales.

Small businesses can compete with large brand name stores by getting to know their consumers and building strong brand loyalty. Large brand name stores do not have the opportunity to get to know their customers and create a personalized and memorable shopping experience. By creating this shopping experience that feels special to consumers, you are building brand loyalty. Customers who are loyal to a company will talk and try to convince their friends that this is the best company and they need to shop there and support it!

Overall, being a good caring company that invests in the community and cares about its customers will give them the best advantage to compete with large brand name stores.
