Chapter 3 Methodology Discussions

Discussion 1 – Fundamentals of Methodology

Keep in mind that this chapter must include sufficient information to allow the study to be replicated.

In this discussion, upload your current work; discuss where you are going with your Chapter 3 Introduction of the Problem and Methodology.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns. **

Discussion 3 – Research Method

For this section you will work on the
Participants and Instrumentation portion of Chapter 3.

· Discuss whether you plan to use qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods approaches in your study.

· Discuss why your methodology was chosen and why other methods were not applied to this study.

· Discuss the location of the participants, number of participants, and the criteria for selecting them.

Use peer-reviewed sources to ground your discussion.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns.

Discussion 5- Research Method

In any form of data collection, instruments serve as guides. Whether in interviews or observations, which form the focus of this chapter, instruments should facilitate access to information and regulate your interaction in the field.

· Describe the instruments or protocols used in your surveys, interviews, observations, or artifacts.

· Discuss the questions created in your surveys and how they relate to the research questions.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns. *

Discussion 7-Data Collection Anaylysis

With data collection instruments or guides drafted, your next step is to think about and develop a plan for using these tools to gather information in the field. Conceptualizing procedural details in data collection often accompanies instrumentation—they generally go hand in hand. What you do in the field needs to be worked out with how you will do it.

Discuss the steps you plan to use to collect participant data.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns. *

Discussion 9 Ethics

One issue to anticipate about confidentiality is that some participants may not want to disclose their identity. By honoring this need, the researcher allows the participants to retain ownership of their voices and exert their independent decision-making.

Thinking critically about local cultural norms and beliefs of a group or groups of research participants, explain what respect for persons mean to you in the context of your dissertation.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns. **

Discussion 11 Gathering chapter three together

Remember that the methodology section of your dissertation describes how your research was conducted. This information allows readers to check whether your approach is accurate and dependable. A sound methodology can help increase the reader’s trust in your findings.

Discuss questions, comments, and concerns you may have over the last ten modules.  The next module is where you put it all together for committee review.

After receiving feedback from your Chair, respond with comments and concerns. **

Discussion 13:
 Scholarly Business Literature

You have now turned your Chapter Three in for committee review.  You may have heard from your Chair and committee about Chapter Three.

Discussion15:
 IRB

The mission of the IRB is to protect the rights, dignity, welfare, and privacy of human subjects in all research conducted on behalf of the university. The IRB process adheres to the principles outlined in the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects of Biomedical and Behavioral Research report and the regulations of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other applicable agencies.

Discuss the tasks or protocol sections in drafting an IRB protocol that challenges you and the protocol dimensions that require more work and effort to complete.

Respond to your Chair with questions and evaluations, and whether you agree or disagree, and why.
