Chapter II — Planning / Subtopics / research

This assignment is intended to begin the planning process for Chapter II of your dissertation (821 class). Theme 1 for all studies is the Historical Background or Historical Context/Perspective. You will establish 5 themes for your Chapter II. The minimum requirement for each theme is 5 pages of research presentation using 5 references. Your Theme 2 will be Theoretical Framework. Themes 3, 4, and 5 will be your choice, relative to the study you are planning. Your 5 themes should be broad to narrowed. Theme 1 (Historical Background) will cover the broad history. Theme 2 (Theoretical Framework) will cover 2 or 3 theories that prove to be a basis for your study. Themes 3, 4, and 5 will need to narrow the scope toward your specific study. This assignment is only for your Theme 1. 

Include the following: 

1. Main Heading — Level 1 Heading 

2. Subtopics — Level 2 Headings (you must have at least 2 subheadings, but more is usually needed–maximum 5-6) 

3. Subtopics — Level 3 Headings (not required, but many times necessary) 

Assignment:

Provide these proposed headings and explain how the headings should be aligned in your Theme 1 — (Look at APA 7th edition inside cover and pages 47– 49 for this information/guidance) 

Provide the sources/references that you plan to use to write your Theme 1 (Historical Background) — List a minimum of 5, but more is much better — List these as they should appear on the reference page — Look at APA 7th edition, pages 315–352 for guidance– examples/templates provided — List these in Alphabetical order. — Check how titles, spacing, indentions, etc. should be listed. — Be precise with each listing. 

Remember: All assignments will be checked for AI — eliminate any possibility (Grammarly, ChatGPT, AI generated References, anticipated text/type, etc..)
