Unit 8 Assignment 1 Directions: Presentation Rehearsal
Purpose
The rehearsal is your first run-through of your talk. Use the opportunity to de-bug any technical issues with lighting, positioning, and recording. You will not be graded on technical or artistic quality, but you should appear and sound professional. Your instructor will provide feedback.
Directions
Develop and deliver a rehearsal of your professional presentation on cybersecurity. See the resource section for a recommended screencast recording tool, but you may use any combination of software and hardware that you would like.
If you have updated your outline to match your final research paper, you can use it to guide your speech. Or you may develop a handful of slides for the presentation, but this is not a traditional slideshow. Do not simply read from a slideshow or your paper. Instead, use notes or slides and speak convincingly to a professional audience, such as an executive group or a board, who must know about the topic you are presenting. You may refer to your notes, but you must look out at the audience and talk to them about the issue.
Take the time to rehearse and record several times. Rewrite your notes as needed to achieve the presence you want.
In your presentation rehearsal, be sure to address each of the following prompts:
1. Overall Theme and Approach: Deliver your presentation. Include all the following:
a. A clear thesis statement that communicates the topic’s importance in cybersecurity governance
b. A clear explanation of the federal, state, and international laws and requirements that support governance and risk management
2. Thorough and Persuasive Argument:
a. Present new information about the issue that shows your ability to research and write about a cybersecurity topic.
b. Demonstrate expertise in how to apply policy, regulatory, technical, and other information to structure corporate governance.
c. Apply risk management or other cybersecurity measures, principles, or requirements.
d. Use recommended governance measures for senior executives to explain why the topic of concern should be a governance priority.
e. Analyze emerging trends and challenges in cybersecurity policy if this issue lends itself to emerging trends.
f. Analyze innovations in cybersecurity governance and risk management, if applicable.
g. Refer to case studies (federal, state, or international) to demonstrate how the issue is being addressed now and provide context by linking to a real-world situation, if possible.
3. Recommendations: Provide recommendations to the audience, clearly communicating how your expertise, academic knowledge, and experience in the field qualifies you to make them. Advocate for your position.
4. Evidence of Skills:
a. Demonstrate your knowledge of cybersecurity governance overall, key cybersecurity components, and the role of leadership in building a culture of cybersecurity.
b. Demonstrate critical thinking and detailed analysis of the topical issues in each section.
5. Professional Presentation:
a. Present your talk in a clear structure with a logical train of thought.
b. State your thesis, argument, and recommendations clearly.
c. Deliver the information in an engaging and confident manner.
d. Convey the importance of your topic in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
e. Speak clearly and make consistent eye contact with the camera.
