Diagram of a classroom

Diagram of a Classroom

Please include this prompt and rubric in one document with your assignment submission.

Background: Before students arrive in your classroom on the first day of school, you will have your classroom in place. This is a really fun task – it’s a reflection of YOU as a teacher – but it requires a great deal of thought and planning.

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is for you to have the opportunity to consider and create a diagram of your future classroom. If you could create a classroom environment any way you wanted, what would you do, and, based on research, why would you do this? How are YOUR beliefs (vision/philosophy) reflected in the initial set-up of your classroom?

Assignment: Please complete the following:

Part 1: Create a diagram of your classroom! Provide a research-based illustration of your ideal classroom, including the following:

A. Arrangement of furniture

B. Supply storage

C. Wall décor

D. Walkways

E. Anything else you think would be beneficial to add

***Note: you can create this illustration either digitally or by drawing it, taking a picture, and embedding it at the beginning of your document. One student created an actual model of their classroom, took a picture of it, and embedded it in their document. Also, I am very open to the use of AI to generate a diagram, provided it meets the criteria noted above and is based on research from the course.

Part 2: Write a 2-3 page summary reflection explaining your arrangement.

A. Connect your “classroom” to research and theory using at least three explicit examples from the course, supporting why you chose to organize and arrange the classroom as you did.

a. Please use course content to support your response

i. At least one reference should be Wong and Wong, while the other two or more references can be other pieces from the course

1. Wong & Wong is one reference. You can cite it as many times as you want, but it counts as one. You need two additional references from the course.

ii. A-Level work requires additional citations – see rubric

B. Connect your “classroom” to your vision and philosophy statement. How are YOUR beliefs reflected in this classroom diagram?

a. A-level work requires additional citations – see rubric

Part 3: Formatting

A. Title Page

B. Diagram

C. Reflective Summary of Diagram
