Chapter one places emphasis on the goals of Healthy People 2020 which depicts the progress of health care, promoting healthy lifestyles, improving quality medical care, reducing disparities, and enhancing positive health behaviors across all stages of the life cycle. With that said, it is important to have insight and a deep understanding of how the Healthy People 2020 contributes to increasing Americans’ knowledge about vital health topics that is intended to improve their health overall (i.e. physically, mentally, and medically).
Imagine yourself as a school nurse or health care worker and describe in detail how you would educate students, parents, and staff in your respective school on the relevant issues that would promote them to become healthy by incorporating positive, healthy behaviors and goals. Critically think of issues or barriers such as environmental factors or influences that could have a major impact on them becoming healthy in general. In your discussion, support your stance with one resource (i.e. textbook, online source, etc.).
