ENG 190 Module Three Collection of Sources Guidelines and RubricOverview

As you are learning in ENG 190, the research process is an important part of writing a persuasive essay. In this assignment, you will work on creating a collection of sources. This is the first part of the project that you will submit in Module Seven. A crucial part of the research process is identifying credible and relevant sources that support your topic and argument. Your sources should support your topic and argument, identify counterarguments, and represent diverse perspectives.

Directions

In this assignment, you will compile your research by providing three sources that support your topic. You will also provide your revised research question. You may refer to the Module Three Project Draft exemplars located in the Supporting Materials section for an example of how to complete this assignment. Please note that there are two versions of this exemplar: one is specific to MLA format, and one is specific to APA format.

Specifically, you must address the following:

State the purpose of your research.
1. Consider the purpose of your research in relation to your topic.
State your research question.
1. State your revised research question.
2. Based on your research, what is your potential answer to your question? Considering the potential answer to your research question now will help you write a thesis statement for your persuasive essay in a future assignment. The thesis statement will be an essential part of your essay.
Describe the impact of using biased sources to support your topic.
1. How does the presence of bias in your sources impact your argument?
Describe how diverse perspectives from sources support your position. Consider the following:
1. Are there multiple voices?
2. How do these diverse perspectives from your research support your topic?
List relevant sources to support your persuasive essay.
1. Include at least one source from the Project Resources Document and at least two sources that you find through your own research using the Shapiro Library.
2. Include an APA or MLA citation for each source. Remember, you will need to use the format you chose in Module One for the duration of the course, including all assignments and the project.
Describe how each source supports your topic.
1. Briefly summarize each source.
2. State why the source is credible.
3. State how the source is relevant to your research question.

What to Submit

Submit your assignment as a 2- to 4-page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA or MLA style.
