Ethical Reflection
Ethical reflection is the thoughtful evaluation of ethical questions and the development
of a critical awareness regarding the values that inform the choices all people, including
oneself, make when confronting such questions.
How do you start a reflection in nursing, reflecting there are a few key things to
consider:
Make time to reflect.
Value the benefits it may bring to your practice.
Use a structure only if you feel comfortable doing so.
Write notes
Chose and identify the potential ethical dilemma you want to base your ethical reflection
paper on. Collect, analyze, and interpret your findings. State the dilemma and how can
the dilemma be resolved by the nurse? Include the code of ethics.
