For this assignment, you will create a PowerPoint presentation arguing from the point of view of either the British, the French, or the Germans that the Treaty of Versailles is either fair or unfair.

For this assignment, you will create a PowerPoint presentation arguing from the point of view of either the British, the French, or the Germans that the Treaty of Versailles is either fair or unfair.  To do well on this presentation, you must not only discuss the treaty itself, but also the events before and during the war that prompted the provisions of the treaty.

For this presentation, you will need to use the Pavlac textbook as well as excerpts from the Treaty of Versailles.  You may use other credible sources on the First World War if you wish.  However, please remember that traditional and online encyclopedias are not acceptable for college-level work.

Here are some websites that you might find useful:

  • WorldWar1.com
  • The World War One section of the History Learning Site
  • FirstWorldWar.com

A successful presentation should embody the following elements:

  • The presentation must be submitted in Microsoft PowerPoint.  You have access to this program through your APUS Office 365 account.  If you need help accessing this program, please contact Classroom Support.  If you submit this presentation in any other format, your presentation will be returned to you and you will have to resubmit it with appropriate late penalties.
  • The presentation should have a title slide, between six and eight body slides, an endnote slide (no footnotes for this presentation), and a bibliography slide.  The endnotes and bibliography can be formatted in accordance with any of the three main citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian); choose whichever one you are most comfortable with.
  • Your opening slide should make it clear from which national point of view you are approaching the Treaty.
  • The presentation must be narrated using the audio tools provided by PowerPoint.  For a guide on how to do this, check out this video.
  • The presentation should use multimedia (images, video, etc.) as well as text.
  • The presentation should use some of the advanced features of PowerPoint, such as custom transitions and animations.
