Study Background Information:
Research Question: What is the impact of a multidisciplinary admission education intervention on the number of days the patient was admitted to the hospital.
In this simulated study, adult participants admitted to the medicine unit at a Southern Ontario hospital were recruited for the study. Participants were randomly put in either the experimental or control groups. The experimental group received structured educational sessions from nursing, medicine, pharmacy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy upon admission. The control group received the standard admission education. Number of days in the hospital was measured using the patient’s admission time and adding one day for every 24hrs in hospital.
