Gendered Life Interview Analysis: Using the transcript you submitted for the Transcript assignment, provide an analysis of the material in the interview in which you connect your person’s experiences to the material covered in class. This is a reflective essay, not a research assignment, so you do not need to do research outside the course. Your essay should be 2000 to 2500 words. The word count includes any quotations from the interviews that you want to use but does not include the title page. We are interested in quality, not quantity, so please do not pad your essay just for the sake of adding extra words (if you find that your reflections exceed 2500 words, that’s fine – just don’t go too far overboard and write an entire book!). Please do not download a random essay about gender from a course paper mill or generate one from a chatbot or artificial intelligence source. Your essay must be well-grounded in the specific material from your interview and the specific material covered in this course, and it should be written by you. If it is not written by you, it falls under the university’s definition of plagiarism, which is an academic offense. You will submit your essay through the Gendered Life Analysis portal in the Assignments section of Canvas any time before one week after the last day of class (to be precise, 23h59 on December 12). If you submit an essay and then you decide to withdraw it and re-do it, you can do so, as long as the resubmission is in the portal by the deadline. We will mark whatever has been submitted as of 23h59 on December 12. We will not mark anything submitted after 23h59 on December 12. Please use this format: 1. At the top of your transcript, please include a version of this statement: “In writing this essay, I did/did not use AI. [If you indicate that you did use AI, specify how: I used AI to generate all or most of the ideas in this essay/I used AI to generate some of the ideas in this essay/I used AI to check the grammar and spelling of this essay. The approximate percentage of this essay that was written by AI is ___%]”. 2. Use any generally accepted citation format for citing the lecture and readings for this class. 3. Give your essay a title. 4. Number your pages and make sure that your name and student number is on each page Here is how your essay will be marked: 5 marks for organization and clarity of writing 7 8 5 marks for originality of thought about gender (in other words, please don’t just repeat what you’ve learned in the class – show that you’ve thought about it) 10 marks for connections between the material of your interview transcript and class material (both lectures and readings). You should try to establish at least two points of connection between the material of your transcript and the ideas or concepts you have encountered in the class. More than two is even better! Please discuss these connections, don’t just note that something in your transcript is an example of something that has been mentioned in class.
