Climate Change Discussion

The case study for this chapter explored climate change, the effects of which are being acutely felt in Oceania.

Imagine that you have been hired to research and advise a nonprofit environmental protection group seeking to mitigate the human impact of climate change. Which of these measures do you support as the best way to address global changes in climate? You might consider what impacts are currently being felt by the islands of Oceania.

1. Promote renewable sources of energy and pressure governments to financially support clean energy initiatives.

2. Support education and awareness campaigns that promote personal changes, and individual actions people can take at home, school, work, and on the road to minimize their impact on the environment.

3. Create and support international climate change agreements.

4. Partner with developing countries to support sustainable paths to economic development.

5. Find ways for people to adjust to and live with changing climate conditions regardless if these changes are naturally occurring or human-caused.

Justify your answer, directly referencing the textbook and/or the assigned articles.
