Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Practice Activity
Instructions:
1. Read each case study below.
2. Identify
one target behavior for the student.
3. Write
one measurable goal to address the target behavior.
4. Write
two short-term objectives that serve as intermediate steps toward achieving the goal.
5. Ensure all elements (conditions, observable behavior, criteria, and mastery level) are included in your goal and objectives.
6. Be prepared to discuss your reasoning and align your goal with the STO checklist (condition, behavior, criteria, number of times, and student name).
Case Study 1: Ethan
Ethan is a 7-year-old student who struggles with transitioning from one activity to another in the classroom. When told to transition, he often refuses by sitting on the floor, crying, or yelling at the teacher. These behaviors typically last between 5-10 minutes and disrupt the class. Ethan responds positively to visual schedules and verbal prompts when used consistently.
Case Study 2: Mia
Mia is a 6-year-old student who has difficulty remaining seated during group activities. She frequently gets up and walks around the classroom without permission. This happens 4-5 times during a 20-minute group session. Mia enjoys positive praise and tangible rewards, such as stickers, for completing tasks and following classroom rules.
