Midterm Project: Social Media Journal & Reflection Paper Instructions

Do the paper on pregnancy and addicted to drugs

Find resources online that are not older than a year. You can find these topics on Facebook, TikTok, Pinterests and a host of other sites that are not pass 1 year.
Review these instructions so that you know what to select for this week. You are ONLY selecting the content for this week, and are not required to do/submit anything else for the project at this time.

The advancement of technology and communication methods has rapidly changed the way that we receive and send information. Social media has played a significant role in this advancement. While providing several benefits to society, it has also resulted in challenges, such as credibility of sources, which has led to the creation of fake news and inaccurate information being shared. As public health professionals and general consumers, it is important to utilize mechanisms that help you to analyze and decide what is credible online and what is not.

This project will help you to develop those mechanisms using a maternal and child health topic of your choice. There are three parts to the project:

1. First, you will select your maternal and child health topic. Use your textbook to select a topic.

2. Next, you will spend 6 weeks gathering social media content. This must be something current (i.e., posted within the preceding 7 days for each week), but it does
not have to be something accurate–learning to weed out what is a credible source and what is not is part of this project! You can search any social media network, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Reddit, Tumblr, etc. You can select from a variety of content types, including posts, reels, videos, images, etc. Each week, you will upload your selected content; you can use a link or a file. Be sure that it is clear where you found the content.

3. Finally, after the first 6 weeks, you will prepare a 2–3-page reflection paper. Begin your paper by summarizing the main points from the content that you selected. Make sure to cite your sources in APA style (using both a reference list and in-text citations). Then, write about your experiences sifting through social media content regarding your selected topic.
