Cultural Awareness in Nursing
: 

As a nurse and global citizen, you will encounter individuals with diverse backgrounds; different beliefs, religions, physical features, needs, and desires. It is essential that these differences do not influence your judgment or the quality of care you provide. This is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of humanity and explore the field of nursing through a cultural lens. 

 

 

Presentation Guidelines:
 

This is your opportunity to be creative and showcase your understanding in an engaging format. 

· You may use PowerPoint, Prezi or any platform to deliver your presentation. 

· The presentation should be no longer than 20 minutes. 

· Use bullet points instead of full sentences to highlight key ideas. 

· Include relevant visuals to support your content (visuals are encouraged but not required on every slide). 

· Aim to create a presentation that is clear, engaging, and visually appealing. 

 

Part 1: Cultural Exploration Topic Selection

Part 1: Cultural Practices & Personal Reflection
 

Based on your selected
 Culture Topic, research and discuss traditional customs and rituals related to the following areas:

· Explore common misconceptions or biases associated with the culture and how they impact healthcare.

Antepartum 

· Identify cultural beliefs and practices during pregnancy. 

·
Intrapartum 

· Examine customs and expectations during labor and delivery.

Postpartum 

· Discuss traditions and care practices following childbirth. 

·
Connection 

· Identify and discuss at least two similarities and two differences between your own cultural background and the culture you selected.  

· Focus on how these comparisons influence perspectives, values, and approaches to healthcare.

scholarly nursing article or textbook published within the
