Document the awareness, knowledge, and skills with respect to CPT for PTSD training (
holistic recording

This will be a global response with details to follow with the remaining components. Your subheading for this could be RECORD or it could be Awareness, Knowledge, and Skills of CPT to Treat PTSD or something similar. What are you now aware of regarding this training? This could include information that CPT is a cognitive-behavioral treatment for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). CPT was developed in the late 1980s and has been shown to be effective in reducing PTSD symptoms related to a variety of traumatic events including child abuse, combat, rape, and natural disasters. CPT is endorsed by the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense, as well as the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies, as a best practice for the treatment of PTSD. The treatment manual has been translated into six languages. It was originally designed for soldiers with combat-related PTSD but the training course and its tenets could be applied to anyone with PTSD.

Knowledge….what came out of this training that added to your knowledge base as to how to treat PTSD?

What skills did you learn? What skills were introduced as being an integral part of the training? Would this include Socratic questioning?

E
STABLISH
: Support the overall goal of the activity with at least two specific learning outcomes, keeping in mind how to use the outcomes in actual counseling,

You might substitute “activity” for the training as the instructions refer to the overall goal. The overall goal is what students can expect to be able to do by the end of the training/course. Identify two “specific” learning outcomes that connect to the overarching goal. Relate this to what a counselor could use from the training when working with clients suffering from PTSD. Each module completed had a learning outcome that should be directly related to the overall goal of the training.

F
RAME
Provide a rationale for treating PTSD using the CPT model.

Why does it make sense to use the CPT model to treat PTSD?

L
INK
: Anticipate and provide examples of how you will use CPT counseling skills and interventions when providing therapy for PTSD.

How will you incorporate the skills and interventions and activities introduced in the training into your own therapy in working with clients with PTSD?

E
VALUATE
Measure the effectiveness of the activities you identified and the related counseling skills and document the anticipated results.

How will you measure the effectiveness of incorporating the two activities you described in the previous (Link) component? What documentation will you provide?

C
ONNECT
: Align a new perspective as a result of this activity by revisiting the first three steps of this framework (record, establish, frame), linking your counseling approach (skills, theory) and anticipated interactions and behaviors of clients.

Consider the new perspective you have developed as a result of this training using the first three components as your basis and CONNECT it to your personal counseling approach and/or the theory you align with to guide and inform your practice. How do you anticipate clients responding?

T
ARGET
Identify one or more goals in your (a) personal approach (e.g., awareness of self and others, motivation, autonomy) and (b) professional knowledge and skills (e.g., curriculum, theory, cultural integration, interventions) and list ways in which you plan to meet and target the goal(s).

Wrap up your discussion by identifying one or two goals that you have set for yourself and how you plan to meet the goals. Make one your personal approach and one your professional knowledge and skills.

Use APA format and employ APA writing skills. Include an opening paragraph introducing the topic and a closing paragraph that captures the gist and main points of the paper.

REMEMBER TO SUBMIT YOUR ASSIGNMENT TO BOTH TK20 AND Blackboard. BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION WITH THIS ASSIGNMENT.
