Hide Assignment InformationTurnitinThis assignment will be submitted to Turnitin.InstructionsInstructions

For this course, you will be required to record yourself delivering speeches. The following course requirements (steps) outline how this will be accomplished in an online course. Since these requirements are essential for successfully participating in the online version of this class, read through these requirements carefully.

Submit a one-sentence statement to your instructor by clicking on the Session 1 Setting Yourself Up for Success link confirming that you have read and can abide by the following course requirements.

Course Requirements:

Step 1:  Strive to be as professional as possible as you record the assignments for this course.  Your audience will consist of your classmates as they view your presentations online.

Step 2:  Find a place where you can film yourself where you can be easily seen and heard.  Please record in a selective location where you and your audience will not be distracted by children or pets. If your home does not work, pursue other venues such as reserving a room at a local library, university, workplace, meeting rooms at various restaurants, etc.

Step 3:  You will need access to a digital video camera (you may use the video recording feature on a tablet or smartphone)

Step 4:  You will need a fast enough Internet connection to allow uploading videos to the Internet. Uploading videos may take minutes, up to several hours for one file to upload, depending on file size.)

Step 5: For creating videos for assignments, you will use Bongo. You will need to click on the "Camera" icon to initiate your recording.

Some Things to Remember When You Are Recording Yourself

  •  Stand up and face the camera and incorporate appropriate gestures during your speech.
  • If you are using a handheld video camera to record your speech, try using a tripod or keeping the camera on a level surface so that the video is not shaky. If you are using a tablet or smartphone to record your video, stabilize your device carefully.
  • Place your camera at an appropriate distance so that your recording shows your hand gestures and posture. (not too close and not too far away).
  • Remember to make sure that there is plenty of light. If you choose a dark room or a dark area, it will be difficult to see you and your visual aids.
  • Speak clearly and loudly so that the microphone on your camera can pick your voice up.
  • Have fun! This course provides several opportunities for you to prepare speeches about things that are important to you and your audience.
  • Do not record and rerecord your speech again and again. Record and use your first or second attempt. It will be tempting to do keep rerecording your speech to get it perfect. Remember, you will need time to prepare the video and post the speech online for your classmates to review it.
  • Please review your recorded speech before you publish and post your video. Check to make sure all of the above has been accomplished and you have a quality video. If not, this will reflect negatively on your grade for that speech.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and type in the text submission area that you understand these requirements, then click submit to upload your assignment by the posted due date.
